Secret Headliner

Here's how it usually works. Comedian decides to record an album. Comedian picks a time and place. Comedian promotes the bejesus out of the event. Comedian's fans show up, and laugh, because they're fans. That's the template, and it works. The true test of a joke, however, is will it make strangers laugh? Does it work when no one has any idea who you are? I decided to put an entire album to this test. The show was called Stand-Up Confidential, recorded on a Wednesday night in Raleigh, NC. The audience had no idea who the comedian would be until the host introduced me. And, quite frankly, they had no idea who I was after the host introduced me... but that's how I wanted it. No safety harness. Just me, my jokes, and an honest crowd.
